Sacred music is one of three expressions of European classical music, which also includes chamber music and theatre music. Sacred music is, simply put, music written for church.
St Thomas’ has established itself as a centre for Sacred Music in our local area and our Music Director is passionate about advancing the awareness and experience of Sacred Music in our parishes.
St Thomas’ Choir
We have a well established choir at St Thomas, and they are always keen to recruit new members. Rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings at the church. Please contact [email protected] for further information.
St Patrick’s Choir
Although St Patrick’s is the smaller of our two churches, the parishioners are equally passionate about reflecting their love of God through music. Sister Meghan Connolly and parish volunteers currently coordinate our choir and weekly music. Please contact [email protected] for further information.
All weddings at St Thomas are arranged in consultation with our Music Director and all musicians are provided by the church. No pre-recorded music is played in St Thomas.
When planning the music for your wedding, you will speak with our Music Director in the first instance. He will establish your preferences and the type of service you are planning. In order to assist in your planning, we have prepared some recommendations for music throughout the wedding. We encourage you to read the attached document prior to meeting with our Music Director.
